One of the biggest trends this fall is the tall riding boot. Your probably wondering where you can get a pair at a reasonable price. Believe it or not Goodwill has them on occasion so always check there. You can get a pair for $6.99 which is really cheap. Normally a good leather pair are gonna run you about $125.00, and make sure they are your size and that the leg part fits your calf, not snuggly but pretty close, you should barely be able to tuck your jeans into them, if they are gappy at all get a smaller calf size, since the gappy look, looks terrible. Also make sure the hieght of the boot comes up to the back of your knee Thats the proper length.
You can order boots from any riding catalog that caters to English or Hunt seat riders, you'll be able to pick foot size as well as calf size and length. If you find a boot that laces up the front of the ankle thats called a field boot, you might not like that kind of boot, your going to want the slip on type.
Be sure to purchase a boot tree, this is a forked piece of wood that you place the heel of one foot into the fork and step on the opposite end with your other foot and then you pull your foot up to release the boot from your foot otherwise you will need a helper to get your boot off. Wear good socks with your boots, anything over the ankle is good. Good sockes will protect your feet from blisters. You will need to wear your boots often to get them to have that lived in feel. The more leather is worn the softer and suplier it gets and it molds to your feet and leg. Also purchase boot trees to put into your boots when your not wearing them, if you don't want to purchase a set then take the sunday paper and roll it up lengthwise and put duck tape around it. Now you have your own set of boot trees for free. The newspaper will also help absorb moisture from when you wear them, this will keep them from getting smelly.
Have fun wearing your boots. Take excellant care of them and they will last you forever.
